First on Friday – Red Sister

First on Fridays is a weekly bookish meme, created and hosted by Preeti’s Panorama.

The rules are very simple:

  • Every Friday, grab a book [can be an e-read or paperback].
  • Share its first two or three paragraphs along with the book’s title and cover.
  • On the basis of the paragraphs/excerpt, just tell whether you would like to read it or not? One or two sentences will be enough.

I just request that you link back to ‘Preeti’s Panorama’ on your own ‘First on Fridays’ post. You can share your comments if you do not have a blog.

Have fun with it and enjoy the world of books. Continue reading

PEEK – A – BOO

Ancient secrets cannot remain buried forever.

Founded two centuries ago by a powerful tribe of Gottwa Indians, Rowan was a quiet town, so quiet that I fled after graduation. Staying away was the plan, but Mom died suddenly.

Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient graves in our backyard, which happens to be the town cemetery. Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals.

As we made preparations for Mom’s burial, new people began arriving in Rowan, unnervingly handsome and odd people. I begged them to leave, but they stayed, because their enemies—my ancestors—were beginning to awaken.

TEN LITTLE THINGS… more

PART-2

I might be leading a normal, ordinary life but I do have moments extraordinaire. Though they may be fleeting but they are not insignificant. Listing few among the many…

  • Baby’s first laugh.

  • Relaxing gurgle of a waterfall

  • Birds pecking on your window sill.

  • The familiar shapes in the clouds.

  • The slow drifting morning fog during winters.

  • The clear reflection of the night sky in the lake.

  • The soft drizzle falling on your face.

  • A fluttery butterfly resting on you.

  • Gentle waves rushing to meet the shore.

  • Light breeze showering cherry blossoms on you.

These are moments… tiny moments which give oneself pure joy. You cannot make them… they just HAPPEN. I believe that only those who are blessed have the chance to experience them. If you have experienced any one of these… be thankful!!!
